Arabic:
اللّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ العَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى
اللّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا، وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ

Transliteration:
Allahumma inna nas’aluka fi safarina hatha al-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-‘amali ma tardha. Allahumma hawwin ‘alayna safarana hatha, watwi’ ‘anna bu’dahu.

Translation:
“O Allah, we ask You for piety and fear of You in this journey of ours, and actions that are pleasing to You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and fold away its distance.”

  • Dua to Recite Upon Entering Makkah

There is no more surreal feeling than entering the holy city of Makkah. Knowing that this city is where Islam and our beloved Prophet (SAW) were born, and that it houses the house of the Almighty, is an unparalleled feeling. Here is a dua to recite for safety and protection of the Almighty as you experience the sanctity of this city. 

Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا حَرَمُكَ وَأَمَانُكَ فَحَرِّمْ لَحْمِي وَدَمِي وَعَظْمِي عَلَى النَّارِ

Transliteration:
Allahumma haza haramuka wa amanuka, faharrim lahmi wa dami wa ‘azmi ‘ala an-naar.

Translation:
“O Allah, this is Your sacred area and place of security, so make my flesh, blood, and bones forbidden to the Hellfire.”

  • Dua Before Tawaf

Tawaf is the core ritual of the pilgrimage. This is the time when you get a chance to witness the Kaaba and pour your heart out while standing in front of this sacred cubic structure. Pilgrims are immersed in all kinds of supplications during Tawaf.

Arabic:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ إِيمَانًا بِكَ وَتَصْدِيقًا بِكِتَابِكَ، وَوَفَاءً بِعَهْدِكَ، وَاتِّبَاعًا لِسُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ

Transliteration:
Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. Allahumma imanan bika wa tasdiqan bikitabika wa wafa’an bi ‘ahdika wa ittiba’an li sunnati nabiyyika Muhammad ﷺ.

Translation:
“In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, with faith in You, belief in Your Book, fulfilling Your covenant, and following the Sunnah of Your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”

  • Dua Between the Yemeni Corner and Hajar al-Aswad

There is a Sunnah supplication to recite while you stand between the Yemeni corner and Hajar al-Aswad. 

Arabic:
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:201)

Transliteration:
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhaban-naar.

Translation:
“Our Lord, grant us in this world good and in the Hereafter good, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

  • Dua for Standing on Safa and Marwah

Pilgrims walk between the two sacred hills of Safa and Marwah. This faith-reviving experience teaches many life lessons. Reciting supplications during this ritual is significant and yields exceptional rewards. Here is a supplication you can recite while standing at Safa and Marwah, as recited by our beloved Prophet (SAW).

Arabic:
إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ… أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ…

Transliteration (partial):
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer…

Translation:
“Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no god but Allah, alone without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things…”

  • Dua After Completing Umrah 

Umrah is a transformative journey. As you go through this transformation, you will feel yourself getting closer to the Almighty. Upon completing the rituals, recite the following supplication. This supplication sums up your journey and enables you to ask Allah for forgiveness and acceptance of your acts of worship and good deeds during the pilgrimage.

Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ عُمْرَتِي مَبْرُورَةً، وَذَنْبِي مَغْفُورًا، وَسَعْيِي مَشْكُورًا

Transliteration:
Allahumma aj‘al ‘umrati mabroorah, wa dhanbi maghfooran, wa sa‘yi mashkooran.

Translation:
“O Allah, make my Umrah accepted, my sins forgiven, and my efforts appreciated.”
